LEXICOLOGY
Definition
● lexicology (from Greek lexis "words" and logos "learning") is the part of linguistics dealing with the vocabulary of the language and the properties of words as the main units of language.
● lexicology as a branch of linguistics has its own aims and methods of scientific research, its basic task being a study and systematic description of vocabulary in respect to its origin, development and current use.
● lexicology is concerned with words, variable
words groups, phraseological units, and with morphemes which make up words.
● Descriptive Lexicology
Synchronically, these word are related as a simple word (to beg) and a derived word (beggar). The noun beggar is derived from the verb to beg by means of the suffix.
● Historical Lexicology
Diachronically we learn that the noun beggar was borrowed feom old french and the verb to beg appeared in the english language as a result of back derivation the formation of a word from the stem (base) of another word, by means of cutting off suffixes (prefixes) from the source word. I,e,. It was deribed from the noun beggar

HapusOkay yen, i want to explane my topic about lexicology. Lexicology is one of semantic studies. The subject of lexicology and lexicographic studies is lexicons or vocabulary. This lexicographic and lexicological discussion is inseparable from the problem of the word meaning of every word used. This lexicology is a deeper study of the meaning of words from every word :))

HapusFor example. Kata "masak"
1. Sudah sampai tua hingga harus dipetik, di makan : Misalnya tentang buah yang masak di pohon
2. Sudah jadi ( tentang masakan) Misalnya meskipun sudah beberapa jam direbus , belum masak juga ubi ini
3. Sudah selesai, sudah dipikirkan. Misalnya adonan ini belum masak, bangsa kita dianggapnya belum masak
4. Mengolah, membuat panganan. Misalnya masak kue lapis
Lekikologi mempelajari arti yang lebih kurang tetap yang terkandung dalam kata. Yang lazim disebut leksikal (lexical meaning)
Jadi kata "masak" disini mempunyai banyak makna seperti masak (sudah matang), sudah jadi, mengolah atau sudah selesai.
Contoh 2.
Rumah = berumah
Di samping kata rumah terdapat juga kata berumah di mana keduanya sama-sama memiliki arti leksikal
Rumah berarti “ bangunan untuk tempat tinggal”, bngunan pada umumnya
Berumah berarti “ mempunyai rumah, diam, tinggal”
Contoh kedua ini sama dengan contoh pertama. Memaknai rumah atu berumah. Maknanya samasama untuk tempat tinggal

Lekikologi learns a less fixed meaning contained in the word. What is commonly called lexical (lexical meaning)
So the word "cook" here has many meanings such as ripe (cooked), finished, processed or finished.
Example 2.
House = home

House means "building for residence", building in general
Berumah means "to have a home, to be quiet, to live"

Menurut saya, karena setiap kata atau kosakata mempunyai makna masing masing. Dimana kita mengcapkan atau menggunakannya harus lebih pandai memilih kata dan maknanya. Di leksikology juga ada kata pengimbuhan sehingga kita harus pandai memaknainya agar cocok dengan kata yg lain. Salah memaknai bisa jadi salah pengucapan atau penulisan
HapusIn my opinion, because every word or vocabulary has its own meaning. Where we say or use it should be more clever choose the word and its meaning. In lexicology there is also the word pengimbuhan so we must be good at memaknainya to match the other words. Wrong interpretation may be wrong pronunciation or writing
